A joinery mock-up should expose risk. A perfect sample door on a table proves less than a rough full-size corner containing hardware, light, an adjacent finish and the service access everybody forgot.
List unresolved questions
Include a true junction, moving part and loaded shelf. For fixed seating, the mock-up must include body and table geometry; use the banquette test as the model.
Operate hardware repeatedly and review sheen under project lighting. Commercial materials should also pass the ageing and repair test.
Connect the drawing
Every accepted detail must return to the fabrication set. A practical shop-drawing review checks dimensions, interfaces and responsibility rather than simply stamping an elevation.
Plan the future opening
Remove panels and replace serviceable components during the test, following the replacement-first detail. Preserve approved hardware and cleaning information in the operational handover.
