Shop drawings should explain how something will be made, fixed and joined to adjacent work. Approval is an investigation, not a stamp.
Begin at the edges
Verify site dimensions, then trace every junction with another trade. Doors require the performance data assembled in the door schedule; ceilings require the service map in the reflected ceiling plan.
Review responsibility
Mark who supplies, fixes, seals, powers and protects each interface. Where the drawing includes joinery, compare assumptions with the approved mock-up.
Close the revision loop
Comments should be traceable into the next issue and timed against the procurement decision date. Removable components must retain the access described in design for replacement.
